Overview

Nestled in the charming mountain town of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, Fernando's Burritos brings a hearty and authentic taste of Mexican comfort food right off Highway 82. This quaint eatery, located at 96 James Canyon Hwy, offers a welcoming atmosphere that feels like a home away from home. Whether you're a local or a traveler passing through, Fernando's Burritos is a must-visit for those craving generous, flavorful burritos crafted with care.

The standout item on the menu is undoubtedly the Taco Plate, but it’s the burritos that truly steal the show. These aren't your run-of-the-mill wraps packed with fillers—they are large, protein-rich, and bursting with genuine flavors. From steak to chorizo, each burrito is meticulously prepared, showcasing quality ingredients and bold seasoning. The folks behind the counter, including Fernando himself, offer warm hospitality that amplifies the overall experience, making every visit feel personal and inviting.

The food truck’s size and location complement its charm perfectly. Situated right in the heart of Cloudcroft, it’s an easy pull-off for anyone exploring the scenic New Mexico highways. While seating is limited to rustic picnic tables, the casual outdoor setting suits the laid-back vibe of the town and adds to the authenticity of the meal. For those who enjoy a good cup of coffee alongside their breakfast burrito, a coffee cart next door rounds out the experience.

Patrons frequently mention the wait time of around 10-15 minutes, but this speaks to the care and freshness put into every order. The salsa served here leans toward the spicy side—ideal for heat lovers—but is worth mentioning for those with a more sensitive palate. Overall, Fernando's Burritos caters well to both hearty appetites and those seeking a quick, satisfying bite. It’s perfect for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates generous portions paired with genuine, down-to-earth service.

In summary, Fernando's Burritos is more than just a food truck; it’s a true culinary gem in Cloudcroft. Its robust burritos, friendly service, and inviting setting capture the spirit of the Southwest while offering an authentic taste of Mexican cuisine. For anyone traveling through or living nearby, this spot promises warmth, flavor, and a bit of home in every bite.

Fantastic lunch stop- the burritos are huge and packed with protein instead of fillers like some places do. Steak and chorizo was a standout but everyone enjoyed their burrito. Easy 5 stars.

This burrito stand is in a great location, has great food & is a fair price! The burritos these make are massive and definitely worth the price. They do take about 10-15 minutes to make sometimes but it’s worth the wait. Definitely recommend!

The cutest little food truck, in the cutest little mountain town. If you’re in Cloudcroft and need a quick bite to eat, this is a great choice. The burritos are priced normally but WAY bigger and tastier than most restaurants! The folks here are so nice too. Easy pull-off from highway 82 and right in the heart of the town. The salsa is delicious but pretty spicy, which I personally prefer, but be aware if you’re not into hot salsas. Really happy we stumbled across Cloudcroft and Fernando’s along our journey!

One of the best breakfast burritos we’ve had! My husband and I split the chorizo and it perfect. Fernando was such a nice guy! Only picnic tables to eat at. There is a coffee cart next door with great coffee drinks! A fantastic experience!

Fair weather only as it’s outdoor seating. The food really has potential. But they just over cook the steak. So it becomes too tough and chewy. The breakfast burrito was really good though.

OMG!!! If your driving in the area, STOP!!! This place might just be a food truck, mixed with awesome staff, and definitely top 5 of my burritos places. It is worth the price and the altitude!

Stopped here while in Cloudcroft. Fernando was so pleasant and welcoming & had his wife alongside helping with a smile. I ordered the chile relleno, and it was such a fulfilling burrito !! Tortillas have that delicious, authentic homestyle look and taste. & the salsa was good enough to take sips out of with each bite thank you :) I'm hoping this place can end up with its own dine-in storefront on the strip when they're ready
